During this leg of the race you will encounter a detour. During this detour you must make your way to Ilha de Bolama Located just off the mainland, about 40km (25mi) south of Bissau, the island of Bolama was long home to the Portuguese capital. Deprived of its status in 1941, the once-grand town (also called Bolama) has been decaying ever since, with sagging colonnades and papaya trees sprouting from stately living rooms. The

Once here, you will play a game of futbol (soccer) with the natives. Futbol has become a very popular sport in Guinea-Bissau. It will be a game of two on two. One of you must block the goal while the other tries to move the ball past the blocker and score a goal past the goalie. Once you have scored three goals, you will make your way to Bafata. In the middle of this small town is the pit stop for this leg of the race.
